Focused Recruitment are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our clients manufacturing plant based within the Rhymney area.
This role will initially be on a FTC with the duration expected to be 12 months however could be extended beyond that in line with the business needs.
Overview of the role:To carry out planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and supporting production targets. The role involves fault-finding, repairs, and continuous improvement across a range of systems including production machinery, chemical process plant, textile and conversion equipment, air compressors, boilers, chillers, HVAC, BMS, and SCADA systems.
Hours of work include:Monday - Friday following a 3 shift rotating pattern consistent of days, nights & afternoon shifts.
Duties of the role will include:- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring reliability and ongoing improvement of process and facilities equipment.
- Use plant performance metrics (e.g. OEE, downtime) to identify and implement equipment improvements.
- Support the integration of new machinery and technologies into the Rhymney site operations.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues across the entire facility.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times, maintaining responsibility for personal and team safety during engineering tasks.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Assess and apply appropriate safety standards for the installation and operation of new and existing equipment.
- Issue work permits and supervise external service contractors following training.
- Assist in developing electrical specifications for new machinery and carry out electrical safety assessments on new plant and equipment.
- Record and manage engineering modifications, ensuring updates are accurately reflected in technical documentation.
- Support maintenance strategies and systems related to mechanical plant and equipment.
- Log all maintenance activities, breakdowns, and corrective actions using the site's maintenance management system.
Desired criteria:- Understanding of cleanroom or controlled environment systems, including HVAC, humidity control, and pressure cascades.
- Strong background in electrical systems operation and maintenance, with experience managing site infrastructure such as HVAC systems, fire protection systems, and low-voltage electrical networks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with MS Project and CAD is a plus.
- Working knowledge of 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Familiarity with PLCs and SCADA systems is advantageous.
- Awareness or training in CompEx is desirable.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), ideally Maximo.
Qualifications & Background- HNC / ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering preferred, with proven experience managing electrical systems.
- Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship, ideally within a regulated or highly controlled industry
