Focused Recruitment are currently seeking a Production Manager to join our clients Manufacturing plant based within the Tredegar area.

To be considered for this role you would need to have time spent within the FMCG, Pharmaceutical or Process Industry, in a supervisory capacity.

Overview of the role:

As a Production Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Production and be responsible for the overall SQDCM (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale) performance within your production area. This role is a key part of the Operations Management team, focused on driving efficiency, flexibility, and competitiveness across the factory.

Hours of work include:

Monday - Friday: Flexible office hours 8 hours per day between the hours of 07:30am - 17:30pm.

Duties of the role include:

  • Lead a team of Production Supervisors (across shifts) to optimize manufacturing performance by managing capacity, analysing data, identifying improvement opportunities, and developing team capability through effective performance measurement and coaching.
  • Take ownership of continuous improvement within your production area, driving initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and output.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities are properly resourced and managed to meet operational requirements.
  • Manage the escalation process within your area, ensuring your team is supported in problem-solving and escalating critical issues to the Head of Production when necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, and Quality to meet production targets by minimizing downtime and maximizing right-first-time performance.
  • Support the company's people management processes in partnership with HR, ensuring effective team development and engagement.
  • Manage team and individual performance in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Desired criteria for the role:

  • Relevant manufacturing or engineering qualifications such as BTEC Higher Professional Diploma or NVQ Level 4.
  • Proven supervisory experience within FMCG, pharmaceutical, or process industries.
  • Familiarity with Lean tools and methodologies, including Gemba, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Kaizen.
  • Ability to inspire and lead a team, effectively represent the department, and manage upwards.
  • Exposure to business operations and an understanding of profit and loss is desirable.
  • Broad knowledge of change management and continuous improvement methodologies
